The other day, I was reading the article ‘No life without brain activity’ (August 5). I must say I totally support what Etienne Grech referred to.

In fact, I would like to add further thoughts, which all of us should reflect upon.

What is the consequence of an unplanned child? What is its future? Who of us does not know of at least a couple of youths who reluctantly were dragged into parenthood?

What if it is a case of a couple being too young to be parents? Or, maybe, the result of abuse? Or, even worse, a person not being psychologically stable?

As they say, children never asked to be born. But they do have a fundamental right to be brought up within an appropriate family environment and being assured that their parents are in the best possible state of mind.

Are we considering the possibility that these future adults could be social problems?
