Joseph Muscat was recently quoted as saying that “a Labour Government will work to rebuild a culture of respect towards teachers whose profession is not sufficiently appreciated”.

These are rich words coming from the (new) leader of the (new) Labour Party. Perhaps, because of his youth, Muscat is not aware that the first seeds of disrespect towards teachers were sown by none other than the PL (old) when in government in the 1970s and this throughout the tenure of the late first female Minister of Education and subsequent ministers.
