The resignation of the Malta Environment and Planning Authority’s environment director Petra Caruana Dingli (née Bianci) has been accepted by the Government.

Dr Caruana Dingli, former executive president of Din l-Art Ħelwa, tendered her resignation on Wednesday, without citing reasons. Her February 2011 appointment was criticised because she was appointed without an open call being issued. Her resignation follows that of CEO Ian Stafrace.

Prime Minister Joseph Muscat last week said he would be reviewing their resignations and deciding whether to replace them directly or by issuing an internal call.
