I am a regular route bus user and for the past couple of months I could not bear the strong smell coming out from a rubbish bin right on the ‘Bilbla’ bus stop in the St Julian’s/San Ġwann area.

Normally, the bin will contain small plastic bags with messy food that are left there to rot for days. Even if the bin is emptied regularly, the location of the bin is not ideal at all... it is surrounded by flies, especially in the hot summer months.

The smell is so strong that people have to wait for the bus further away with the consequence that bus drivers might not stop, as commuters will not be right on the bus stop.

Another thing that worries me is that once it starts raining, the inconvience will be greater as there will be no shelter for commuters.

I am sure that I am not the only one voicing this concern and would appreciate it if the bin is either removed or placed further away. I do hope my complaint does not fall on deaf ears.
