Writer Doreen Micallef, who died on December 2, 2001, will be remembered in a theatre monologue.

Only a few people attended the writer’s funeral. There were no family members, as she had none.

But this woman left behind many works which are very important to the literary world.

Her writings expose profound and sometimes controversial thoughts about what she endured throughout her life, and some might find this uncomfortable.

This theatrical presentation, directed by Marcelle Teuma, is a collage of some of the poems which she wrote as well as other aspects which forged her character documented in research by Rebecca Spiteri.

Doreen: A monologue will be presented by Sharon Bezzina on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at St James Cavalier at 8 p.m.

Also on Saturday, a conference entitled Doreen Micallef, will be held in the music room at St James Cavalier.

The conference, headed by Adrian Grima with the participation of Olivia Borg, Oliver Friggieri, Francis Galea, Marco Galea, Bernard Micallef, Immanuel Mifsud, Marlene Saliba, Peter Serracino Inglott and Rebecca Spiteri will be held between 9 a.m. and 1.30 p.m.

• Tickets may be obtained by phone on 2122 3216 or online: www.sjcav.org
