Before taking up duties for the third consecutive summer, Neptunes coach Sergey Markoch is currently in Malta for a short visit.

Apart from a welcome break from sub-zero temperatures, this brief sojourn is intended to give the Russian an opportunity to oversee his team’s build-up and to ensure that this preparation is consolidated under the surveillance of assistant coach Tony Camilleri.

Markoch leaves on Saturday and will return in May, some weeks before the start of the summer league.

The Moscow-based coach has helped the Reds to two consecutive championship titles, including the ‘double’ and the President’s Cup last year.

Neptunes started their Winter League matches last Saturday with a big win over Marsascala and hope to land their eighth winter title this year.
