The Schranz Family of Artists – A Journey of Rediscovery, a major exhibition of paintings by four generations of Schranz artists, is open at Fort St Elmo, Valletta.

The exhibition is being organised by Heritage Malta in collaboration with the Schranz Artists Bicentenary Fundraising Committee to mark the 200th anniversary of the family’s arrival in Malta in 1818. The exhibits comprise over 170 works by 12 different members of the Schranz family.

The artists, spread over four generations born over the space of 100 years, include five (perhaps six) women, which was extraordinary for the 1800s.

The exhibition, being held at Fort St Elmo, Valletta, runs until July 17. It is open daily from 9am to 5pm (last entry 4.30pm), weekends included.
