A Classical Evening with Zanta Hofmeyr is a recital being held at the Manoel Theatre on Friday. This recital will be featuring an exquisite classical repertoire, combining both local and international talent.

Zanta Hofmeyr (photo) graduated from The Juilliard School of Music in New York and is one of South Africa’s most renowned violinists. She has regular appearances as soloist with the Artscape Philharmonic and Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestras as well as other symphony orchestras in South Africa. During this recital she will be accompanied by pianist Elna van der Merwe, one of South Africa’s most sought-after chamber musicians.

A Classical Evening with Zanta Hofmeyr will also feature Godfrey Mifsud, who will be playing an original piece by Maltese composer Charles Camilleri, Divertimento No. 1 written for clarinet, piano and violin. Additionally, soprano Gillian Zammit will engage the audience in two acclaimed pieces, namely O mio babbino caro by Giacomo Puccini and Ave Maria by Giaccini.

The brilliance of these two Maltese artistes will surely complement that of the international performers and will make this concert an evening to remember for all those present.

This is surely a one-time experience for those students who are studying music or musical instruments.

This recital will present an evening that should not be missed, especially by those who have classical music at heart.

• A limited number of tickets for the recital may be obtained from the Manoel Theatre by phone on 2124 6389 or e-mail bookings@teatrumanoel.com.mt
