Dun Karm wrote his poem Lil Malta well before Pope John Paul’s visit to this island when he reminded us that our venerable traditions and our society are being subjected to the allurements of a secularised culture that has engulfed so much of the world.
On that occasion, the Pope was a wise councillor but, since then, a wave of liberal ideas engulfed this island. I believe, however, that we are still in time to stop the rot, take the necessary action to salvage what remains of our decadent ethic standards and elevate Malta to a Religio et patria bastion.
Is there something dishonourable about that? There will be no more need to ask: Melita quo vadis?
