I fully concur with Giov. DeMartino who warned of the risk of falling rocks in his letter of August 12.

This issue is very close to my heart, having written many letters on the state of the bastions surrounding my beautiful city of Senglea, which are crumbling away before our very eyes.

The Gardjola (watch tower), which stands as an icon of the Maltese islands, is also badly in need of attention. The hundreds of tourists who visit daily are being put in an extremely dangerous situation and only by the grace of God has no one suffered a serious or fatal injury.

I do not consider the sign, which at times is complemented by plastic police tape, as adequate protection from the dangers to be found in this location.

Yet again, I implore the government to take immediate action before either someone gets injured or the damage becomes irreparable.

I feel rather sad looking around Grand Harbour and seeing the embellishment going on everywhere (which, of course, is very commendable) except in little Senglea.
