The Afterselfie project was launched in 2014 to promote a cultural exchange between Malta and Italy for artists and for the other young professionals involved in the organisation of this cultural event.

For this reason, Afterselfie project is divided into two phases: the first phase revolves around the art exhibition, organised in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute and hosted by St James Cavalier, Valletta.

The project will then move to Trento, Italy, where Palazzo Trentini will host a second exhibition between May 15 and 31.

Afterselfie – beyond masks/oltre le maschere, makes reference to the main theme of this art exhibition: the human being’s self-representation and the complexity of managing the distance between to be and to appear, expecially with the growth of online social networks in our everyday life and the mania of taking selfies that is bringing to current times Pirandello’s theory about the living masks with a contemporary meaning.

Afterselfie is a group art exhibition with some young and established Maltese and Italian artists, including Raphael Vella, Ritty Tacsum, Adrian Abela, Elisa Von Brockdorff, Goghi&Goghi collective, Gabriele Grones, Jacopo Dimastrogiovanni, Elia Nadie and Debora Fella.

Afterselfie – beyond masks/oltre le maschere runs at St James Cavalier, Valletta, until March 15.
