It is a well known fact that in some countries rats are destroying up to 20 or more per cent of the harvest. I wonder what is happening in Malta and Gozo.

In Gozo, where I live, we are really suffering from a lot of rats in the fields and they also love to come into the house when it is empty for a while. The only solution is a lot of poison.

Another fact is that Maltese and Gozitan men love hunting. So, how about organising a rat-hunting competition?

I would be prepared to put up some euros and if some other people or companies would do the same it could be an interesting first prize.

And, maybe, the rat problem would be solved in a few years. Or in two or three weeks of a rat-hunting season.
