The heavy rains that hit Malta in the past days is believed to have contributed to huge chunks of rock which came crashing down into a Kordin road early yesterday.

Nobody was hurt in the landslide, which could have had a tragic outcome had the incident happened during the day.

Workers from the Public Cleansing Department had a tough job removing the huge obstacles from Ras Ħanżir Hill that leads down to the grain silos.

Heavy machinery was brought in to smash the boulders into more easily transportable rocks. Workers also removed any loose rocks that could potentially come crashing to the ground.

Meanwhile, in Girgenti, a rubble wall also crumbled into the road.
