In the item ‘National Statistics Office branch to open in Gozo’ (May 21), it was reported that according to the last national census, Gozo had a working population of 12,000 and that of these “almost 4,000”worked in the public sector.

It was also reported that “in Gozo most jobs are linked to agriculture”. Are we to assume that in Gozo there are more than 4,000 jobs related to agriculture?

Astonishingly, it was also reported that fisheries-related jobs came second after agriculture. Again, are we to assume that there are more fishermen than, say, shop owners in Gozo?
