I would like to express the gratitude of the law-abiding citizens of Qawra to the district police for taking the initiative and last Sunday performing long-awaited traffic inspections in Dawret San Pawl, St Paul’s Bay.

During these inspections, the police issued 26 traffic offence tickets for breaking the speed limit and using mobile phones while driving, disobeying police orders, negligent driving and not having insurance cover. Two motorcycles were reported because their rear number plates were obstructed.

We now encourage the police in other districts to follow their Qawra colleagues’ excellent example and start enforcing the driving laws in their localities, which will go a long way towards improving the poor standards of driving, stopping the blatant abuses we see every day on our roads and preventing accidents and deaths.
