I refer to the letter by Frederick Zammit, editor of il-Gwida, which was in reply to my earlier letter about the same subject.
In actual fact the main subject of my letter was not the hefty increase in the price of il-Gwida but the crossword puzzle appearing in the magazine. Zammit failed to answer my questions which I repeat for the benefit of those who missed my letter.
More often than not the crossword puzzle cannot be solved because of printing errors. Yet several readers manage to solve the puzzle and win a prize. How isthat possible?
Who draws the ‘winning’ entry?
Where is the draw held and is there any person responsible to see that there is no abuse?
The fact that the names of the winners are published means absolutely nothing.
Sometimes it also happens that the solution given two weeks later is the wrong one.
