The Queen will begin her Diamond Jubilee tour of the UK by visitingthe city of Leicester, Buckingham Palace announced.
The monarch and the Duke of Edinburgh will travel to every region of the country as they celebrate.
Leicester’s city mayor, Peter Soulsby, welcomed the announcement, saying: “I am very proud that Leicester will be the first stop on the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee tour.
“The city has an excellent reputation for hosting celebrations, and I am confident we will give the Royal party a day to remember.”
The royal couple will travel around the country from March to July.
