An angry prostitute, who was stopped from attracting customers by police, has been jailed for seven months after she attacked and assaulted the officers.

Carmela Spiteri, 47, from Valletta, was spotted by officers on July 15 in Marsa and arrested for loitering with the intent to prostitute herself – but not before she put up a fight and assaulted four of them.

In an arraignment, she pleaded guilty to assaulting Police Sergeant Denise Camilleri and PC Mariella Spiteri, violently resisting arrest and attacking Police Sergeant Kenneth Brigniano and PC Jonathan Farrugia, loitering with the intent to prostitute, disobeying orders, breaching the peace and relapsing.

Magistrate Carol Peralta sentenced her to seven months in jail.
