The same person was caught loitering for prostitution 25 times this year and another was caught 17 times.

They were among 40 found loitering on a total of 210 occasions during the course of this year.

The figures, given in Parliament last night, seemed to back up Opposition MP Anġlu Farrugia’s claim that residents of some streets in Marsa felt they were hostage in their own homes.

In reply to Dr Farrugia’s parliamentary question, Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi said district, Vice Squad and Mobile Squad police made several rounds at different times, particularly at night.
