Many European cities reserve some of their streets for pedestrians only. This measure has reduced exhaust fumes and noise pollution, and provides cleaner and safer cities for the benefit for daily commuters and residents. It seems that Valletta, thankfully, is following suit and seems to be adapting to this idea.

I note that in many cities, commuters and tourists use bicycles. Bicycles are clean, noise-free, safe and cheap to maintain. I suggest that an outlet for hiring bicycles be set up near the Valletta Waterfront. I think tourists will enjoy it as the uphill ride from the harbour up to Valletta offers spectacular views. For those who prefer easier rides, remember, the Barrakka lifts will soon begin to operate.
