Malta registered the highest drop in industrial production of any EU member state, posting a decline of 18 per cent in one year to January.
Data published yesterday by the EU’s statistics office showed that Latvia (11 per cent), Lithuania (7.6 per cent) and Finland (7.1 per cent) posted the next biggest drops.
Luxembourg topped the list with an increase of 12.7 per cent followed by Romania (10.5 per cent) and Poland (6.4 per cent).
In the period under review, industrial production across the 28 member states increased by an average 2.4 per cent.
