Prince William yesterday told a group of childminders that he could use their help raising his son George.

The royal was speaking during a visit to the Aċċess community centre run by Appoġġ in Vittoriosa.

“How are you with children around 14 months old?” he asked jokingly.

“I could use your help [with raising my son]. He’s hectic.

“And with another on the way it’s going to get interesting.”

The prince was given a tour of the centre, which offers social support and training to residents of the city.

He played table soccer and PlayStation with a group of children who frequent it.

“Is that Real Madrid you’re playing with?

“They’re OK, but I’m an Aston Villa fan myself,” he said, as a child handed him a controller and offered him a seat on a beanbag.

The prince flew back to the UK yesterday.

While at the centre he told children that he was looking forward to being back home with his wife.

The Duchess of Cambridge, Catherine, was expected to visit Malta but her trip was cancelled after she began to experience a sickness related to pregnancy called hyperemesis gravidarum, which leaves sufferers dehydrated and weak.

Prince William came to Malta as her replacement.

After visiting the centre, he greeted people gathered in Vittoriosa square, which sparked a frenzy of camera flashes and outstretched arms from people hoping to receive a royal handshake.

The prince was invited to Vittoriosa together with Prime Minister Joseph Muscat to watch a typical folk dance.
