Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi recently visited the Wistin Camilleri School of Art and Crafts in Għajnsielem, where he inaugurated two machines – a lathe machine financed by the Gozo Ministry and a milling machine financed by the ETC, which costs around €10,000.

These new machines will make it possible for the school to offer new courses in metal.

The centre was recently awarded the Malta Qualification Framework certificate for its high qualitystandard.

Dr Gonzi was taken around by the head of school Joseph Attard. He visited the sugar crafts exhibits and the ceramics workshop. Dr Gonzi also attended an art lesson for students at the conference hall.

The Prime Minister presented a commemorative plaque to Alfred Camilleri Cauchi in appreciation of the sculpture of his father Wistin, donated to the centre.

Art teacher Justin Falzon presented Dr Gonzi with an incision of St Paul.
