Prime Minister Joseph Muscat yesterday said that he would announce Malta’s ninth President sometime next month.

Dr Muscat was replying to questions regarding speculation on who would succeed President George Abela, whose five-year term will expire in April.

Though there is no set date for the swearing-in, since 1989, when Ċensu Tabone was appointed President, there has been a regular pattern in which the ceremony was always held on April 4.
