I was very disappointed to hear the political speech made by President George Abela at the opening of Parliament. This should never have happened. At that moment he was a President for the Labour half of Malta and no longer represented the whole island. There is no point for him to now say that the procedure concerning the speech at the opening of Parliament must be changed. He should never have read out that speech.

I expected better of him and I am sure there are other people who share my opinion about what the President should have done when faced with such a speech.
