President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca recently visited The General Soft Drinks Ltd’s premises in Marsa, where she was greeted by chief operations officer Maria Micallef and members of the senior management team.

During the visit, the President was given a guided tour around the plant and walked through the process of production, bottling and packaging. While touring the plant, she also had the opportunity to meet and speak with several employees.

In her address, the President praised GSD for its contribution to the Maltese economy and for always providing job and growth opportunities.

She also applauded the company’s sense of CSR and thanked the management and employees for their constant support to the Malta Community Chest Fund Foundation.

Ms Micallef thanked the President for her visit and for her passion for social justice.

“Through the production and distribution of its beverages, General Soft Drinks Ltd, together with GSD Marketing Ltd, enables economic activity in its local value chain that amounts to €50 million and supports more than 1,000 jobs. Apart from the commercial aspect, our companies have a strong CSR mainly in the areas of social solidarity, the environment and education. This is clearly shown in the support we give to various local NGOs, as well as educational and environmental campaigns,” Ms Micallef said.

Ms Micallef added that the company looked forward to continue supporting the Malta Community Chest Fund Foundation.
