In an article on January 15, Ella Pickover wrote that an exercise regime is the reverse of a heart failure risk. I sincerely believe she failed to mention some very important points regarding causes of heart attacks.

All youngsters usually live a hectic life, running, swimming, playing football and so on. In their 20s, or thereabouts, their lifestyle starts to change and they become somewhat inactive.

They would want to buy a car, study more to further their education, have a girl/boyfriend, they may be involved in a sport only as committee members and could be involved in 101 other things where they hardly use their muscles.

The danger really begins when they do not eat nutritious food and smoke like a chimney. Their clothes would hardly fit them any longer and their cholesterol levels begin to worry them.

So, what happens 20 to 30 years after their active life ends? What happens is they begin running or jogging or sweating at the gym after a long period of sedentary life and this is where danger starts in most cases. The heart cannot take what it used to take when one was still young.

Age means more stress on the heart and the cholesterol level will, most probably, need treatment and failing to do so would amount to committing suicide.

Of course, if a person continues with physical activity without any interval, though slower and effort relative to age, the harm is lesser. However, if along the years, one never stopped smoking, the activities mentioned in the article above are a no, no.
