Chorus Urbanus will today be premiering John Galea’s Missa Fons Vitae on the feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Fontana.

The composition will be performed during Mass led by Gozo Bishop Mario Grech at 9 a.m.

The piece, which was commissioned by parish priest Joseph Bajada to commemorate the first centenary of the Fontana parish church, receives its name from Calì’s altarpiece where Christ is seen standing on a fount of water with the inscription Fons Vitae.

The music receives its par-tially modal countenance from Gregorian chant.
