The lifeless bodies of a man and a woman were found at sea yesterday afternoon.

The woman was reported to the police at around 10am when a diver spotted a body at sea off Dingli Cliffs.

The police went on site but could not see anything from land and called in the army for assistance.

The body was eventually spotted by an army patrol boat and brought to Haywharf at around 2.15pm. The woman has not yet been identified.

Meanwhile, earlier yesterday morning, at around 6.15am, a passer-by informed the police that he saw a dead body floating in Birżebbuġa bay. The man was identified as a 53-year-old man from the village.

Post mortems on the two bodies will be carried out tomorrow.
