HSBC Bank Malta has confirmed that “certain letters” were issued in May 2013 which “contained the address of its Attard branch after its closure” due to an “administrative error within the bank’s correspondence system and templates” and that the two letters (in relation to Keith Schembri and Malcolm Scerri) are and were authentic.

As the letters were sent in the normal course of business, I would expect there to be other post-closure letters bearing the HSBC Attard template but this has not been stated and none have emerged. That may, of course, be because these particular two letters are not only authentic but are also unique.
