Portugal will be looking to clinch their first win on Armenian soil when they travel to Yerevan for today’s Euro 2016 qualifier.
The Group I leaders have never lost to Armenia in their five meetings over the years, including a 1-0 home triumph in November. However, all of their previous meetings in Armenia have ended in draws.
“We are Portugal, we are a great team and we will do everything we can to win for the first time in Armenia,” Portugal goalkeeper Beto said on his Federation’s website.
Portugal will be without coach Fernando Santos, who serves a touchline ban this weekend.
“Even though we will not have our coach on the bench, we will feel his presence,” Beto said.
Since losing their opening qualifier at home to Albania, Portugal have hit back with three straight wins to move two points clear of Denmark at the halfway point of the campaign.
