Matches between these two teams guarantee intriguing encounters and this was no exception.

Young Stars went ahead as early as the first minute when Christian Bonello shot home.

They continued exerting pressure on the Hotsticks rearguard and on 13 minutes Bonello grabbed his second to send the Stars into a two-goal lead.

But Hotsticks soon pulled one back when, on a swift break from midfield, Christian Sammut netted with a strong cross shot from the top left side of the D.

And five minutes into the second half Steve Portelli drove home to level the score as a result of a penalty corner action.

Young Stars then went close to regaining the lead on a number of occasions including four penalty corners in favour around the 50th-minute mark.

James Mizzi, the Stars keeper, kept his goal intact with a reflex save.

When the game seemed heading towards a draw, with less than a minute remaining, Hotsticks were awarded a penalty corner and Portelli netted to give a 3-2 victory to his team.

The first 20 minutes saw both sides probing each other’s defences without being able to open the score.

Lombardi hit the Rabat post after meeting a cross from the right flank but on 28 minutes Harry Heyes netted, sending White Hart into a one-goal lead with a shot into the top corner of the net.

On 30 minutes, Heyes scored his second as White Hart went in for the break enjoying a two-goal lead.

Rabat fought hard to come back into the game in the second period. However, after David Agius hit the post for White Hart with a cracker from the top of the D, Paul Torpiano’s shot made it 3-0 and Charlo Sammut added another from close range.

Rabat were awarded a penalty stroke on 65 minutes and James Azzopardi scored his side’s consolation goal.
