I was surprised at Helena Dalli’s remarks on pornography in the article Who Should Take The Lead In Sex Education?, namely where she said she was not against restricting minors’ access to internet pornography. Life nowadays is already tough enough for our children, without having the viewing of pornographic material encouraged to those who are underage and easily influenced and impressed.

Discussion of the subject and its harmful effects is necessary. Pornography is hardly the way to encourage adolescents to foster loving, intimate relationships.

How can Sex Education Forum UK say that “not all pornography is bad”, when various studies have proven that rape may have been encouraged by internet pornography? Society has become permissive enough! It is time to pull the reins and begin to place more importance on passing on sound values to our children, this being mainly the responsibility of parents and educators.
