The choppy waters hammering the Nationalist Party are anything but healthy either for the party itself or the country in general.

Inevitably, the present back-stabbing is reminiscent of the recent Hillary Clinton/Donald Trump charade, when the main focus was on demeaning the opponent rather than giving a real preview of what John Citizen is to expect in the eventuality that the winner is one day given the reins of the country.

The intelligent person, in reality, does not give a hoot which party is elected but, rather, which group of people have the best agenda for the general well-being of the island and its inhabitants.

The message is too frequently that as long as the party that one supports is elected nothing else matters. Such reasoning is pathetic and evidence of the poor mentality, of, unfortunately, a great many of us.

This is the culture that appeals to both leading parties, which take great pride in the number and size and location of their clubs, which, in truth, are mostly nothing but gaming and drinking havens for mainly men who cannot stand the sight of their wives and children after a day’s work.

I do not envy anyone in politics today, especially the ones on the Opposition benches and their taxing task in the coming days.
