With reference to the reports about “soapy” run-off in Attard valley, the Water Services Corporation is aware of the limitations of the infrastructure leading to this area. Upgrading works including a deviation of the sewer main to alleviate these problems are planned to start in 2014.

However, notwithstanding continuous upgrades to the wastewater infrastructure and constant monitoring and preventive maintenance, the WSC also wishes to renew its appeals to stop the dumping of materials that were never meant to enter the sewage system such as fats, oils, straw, rags, etc. These cause blockages as evidenced by this latest episode in Attard valley.
