When I read that Malta’s citizenship was up for sale it reminded me of how Esau had sold his birthright to Joseph, as described in the Genesis, chapter 25.

This would seem to be scraping the bottom of the barrel and a gross insult to Maltese inhabitants.

In this day and age, the few millions of euros that may, or may not, be raised from this scheme will have little effect on the general economy. Perhaps it may help to finance some of the Budget giveaways.

There appears to be an ongoing danger, evidenced recently, that more and more deals are being made overseas, which could well threaten Malta’s true identity in the not-too-distant future.

It is a very real tragedy that, regardless of what sensible propositions are put forward by either party, the other one will rebut in order to toe the party line.

I am very sure that if politicians of both parties truly searched their hearts in a moral manner they would disagree with many of the agendas they have been pressurised to vote for. This has been shown in autobiographies they write when they retire. Should those in power vote in accordance with their true principles, then Malta would indeed become a jewel of the Mediterranean to be envied. Sadly, this seems like a far-off dream.

I would encourage true Maltese citizens to speak up now regardless of which party they support.
