I have been very sceptical regarding a political motive behind Daphne Caruana Galizia’s killing. But I have changed my view and I now lean towards believing that, most probably, her killing had indeed a political motive behind it. I came to this conclusion when, by chance, I came across a note I had written after reading what she had posted on her ‘Running Commentary’ at 2.13am on September 3, 2017, just six weeks before she was murdered.

This is the shocking comment she posted under the title ‘Here’a a little something that people like Adrian Delia need to look at’: “Right now I’m getting messages from members of Adrian Delia’s rabble, saying – with no punctuation except a lot of exclamation marks at the end – that I’m finished, RIP take a cyanide pill, and other remarks involving body parts which I have been long accustomed to from Labour supporters.”

Daphne’s reply to those clear threats to her life was: “My stock response, where I bother, is: I have been writing for three decades and have out-survived five prime ministers and Opposition leaders. There is nobody in Parliament today who was there when I began writing. I have out-survived the lot of them.”

Just six weeks after posting the above comment on her ‘Running Commentary’ in reply to the threats she was receiving from “members of Adrian Delia’s rabble”, the famous or infamous blogger/journalist was brutally murdered.

One can thus reach one’s own conclusion. I have reached mine.
