I had a very strange dream; well perhaps funny rather than strange. There was Eddy Privitera ushering people into a newly built hall. He had just been appointed Chief Usher to guests at government ceremonies.

When all were seated, the President of the Republic gave her welcoming speech and she ended up by exhorting all those present to buy a bingo ticket in aid of the Community Chest fund, which would be drawn after the ceremony.

The next person to take the podium was Edward de Bono of Lateral Thinking fame, who stressed on the need, now, to focus on “vertical thinking” considering the great number of people who had come from rags to riches.

In my dream de Bono was made rector of the so-called American University.

It was then the turn of the Prime Minister. He arrived late, as usual.

His excuse was that he had had to deal with a very long queue of passport buyers and he could certainly not miss out on this selling opportunity.

There were photographers and TV stations covering the event. However, One TV was absent as there was no one leftat the station – they had all been given ‘positions of trust’ with the government.

I woke up smiling.
