On May 17, 2015, I was driving my wife’s car in Victoria and I got booked for parking next to a white line close to the pavement and subsequently fined. Since then, I have been trying to find out from the different departments concerned which section of the law I had broken but, to date, I have had no success.

At various times I have been referred to the Board of Petitions, Lesa and Transport Malta and none of them have been able to tell me which law I have broken. I finally had to pay the fine because the car registration was due for renewal on June 30, 2016. While I have no objection to paying the fine if I have been in breach of the law I would still like to know which law it is that I have broken.

To date, I have still not heard from any of the departments concerned and I am starting to wonder whether a law does exist which does not allow a driver to park next to what I consider an edge line.
