I fully agree with Anthony Zarb Dimech (The Sunday Times, March 18) and advise those involved that the planned micro-chipping of dogs will cost the minister involved, and his party, lots of votes.

Sick dogs are not being exempted- John Meli, Ta’ Xbiex

The public has not been consulted on this matter.

It is good to note that the US Food and Drug Administration had warned that the microchip poses a potential risk to health because it may cause an adverse issue reaction, migration of the implanted transponder, there could be a failure of the inserter or the electronic scanner.

It also causes electromagnetic interference and could cause cancer in animals, as this has happened many times in the case of dogs and laboratory mice.

Sick dogs are not being exempted from being micro-chipped.

A petition has been started on maltanetworkresources.com for those who want to protest against the obligatory micro-chipping of dogs.
