The Johane Casabene Dance Conservatoire has created an original dance spectacle based on the magical world of Pinocchio by Italian writer Carlo Collodi.

The audience will be transported through the various adventures of the living marionette. The balance between good and evil portrayed in the story are key and are the inspirational elements which transcend the entire theatrical rendition of this novel.

Geppetto and his creation.Geppetto and his creation.

On the one hand, Geppetto the carpenter, the Talking Cricket and the Turquoise Fairy try to keep Pinocchio on the straight and narrow. They encourage him to work hard at school and to not tell lies.

On the other hand, there are many exciting temptations to distract him and he is always being waylaid by the crafty Fox and Cat, as well as by the dazzling puppet show.

But Pinocchio does eventually learn what is important in life.

The innovative interpretation of this Italian tale features original dance choreographies and an original musical score by the Italian composer Enrico Melozzi.

• Pinocchio is being held at the Mediterranean Conference Centre on Friday, at 8pm. Tickets may be obtained from the booking office, online at booking.mcc.com.mt or by calling 2559 5750.

A second performance will be held at the Aurora Theatre in Gozo on Saturday, November 19.
