The Central Bank of Malta is supporting Pink October 2016. The aim of this philanthropic initiative is to raise awareness among bank employees about breast cancer prevention and to collect funds. A Pink Day was organised last Wednesday, where staff members were encouraged to wear a ‘touch of pink’ and to donate funds to this initiative.

Central Bank of Malta management and staff have raised €2,500 for this initiative. During a presentation event held at the bank, the Governor, Mario Vella, explained that the bank encourages its staff members to adopt a healthy lifestyle, do regular check-ups and support initiatives like Pink October. He explained that this initiative falls within the bank’s corporate social responsibility.

Action for Breast Cancer Foundation chairwoman Esther Sant, on behalf of Pink October, thanked the governor, management and staff members for their endeavour to collect and donate funds to Pink October.

She explained that these funds, together with those collected from all other Pink October initiatives, would be used to help strengthen the national breast cancer awareness and prevention campaign, to fund the ongoing medical research and to purchase breast cancer treatment medical equipment.
