The forward-looking Phoenix Sports Club are currently undertaking a drive to attract more girls into their volleyball fold and join the nursery.

Apart from teaching children the basics of the game, the nursery provides an ideal opportunity for parti-cipants to improve mental and physical fitness as well as develop communication and leadership skills.

“We want to show young people those skills which will help them become competitive players with a solid base for success in volleyball and life,” club president Orlando Bonnici said in a statement.

“We are always seeking potential players who want to improve their game and reach their future goals in this sport.”

Over the past year, the club, which also runs handball, basketball and futsal teams, has been investing in its volleyball section and the drive to boost the nursery forms part of a long-term plan to field a competitive team in the National League.
