The PN is making a hysterical attempt to tarnish this government’s excellent record in its governance of the economy and its record in tourism, job creation, health care, deficit control, unemployment – now the second lowest rate in the EU – foreign investment, education, the social sector, the energy sector, justice reform and so much more.

In doing so, Simon Busuttil and his motley crew are pinning all their political hopes on... you’ve guessed it, Mark Gaffarena, a former client of Beppe Fenech Adami.

Gafferena is the same man who is being sued by Joseph Muscat to hand back the money and property he had deviously managed to get hold of in collusion with some people in the Land Department. The grossly inflated valuation of Gaffarena’s property, and grossly deflated valuations of the government property given to him in exchange, were arrived at by an architect or architects appointed by the former PN government.

The PN’s aim is glaringly obvious – they want to create the perception of corruption in all spheres of this administration. They started with a litany of “scandals”. The “scandals” were changed to “corruption”.

Now they have upped the ante by changing “corruption” to “Mafia”.

These are the same people who closed both their eyes and ears when our country was inundated with stories reeking of corruption, culminating in the mother of all corruption scandals at Enemalta. At least this government has acted to fight corruption by introducing the necessary legislation which the previous PN government never had the guts to introduce. And it is taking immediate action.

These people really do have~some cheek.
