Jason Peplow was the surprise winner of the Masters National League recently after beating Malta champion Alex Borg 5-4 in the final played at Senglea’s La Vincitrice Band Club.

As the final scoreline clearly indicates, the best-of-nine match was a thriller with Borg seemingly on his way to victory when compiling a 130 break in the sixth frame that put him 4-2 ahead.

But Peplow kept hold of his nerves and hit back strongly, winning the next three frames to secure the title.

At the end of the match, Frans Bugeja, the MBSA head, and Vince Zammit, president of the La Vincitrice Band Club, presented the trophies to the winner and runner-up.
