Roberta Buhagiar was recently awarded her doctorate from the University of Southampton. She wrote her dissertation, entitled Development of a Quality of Life Measure for Adults with Bilateral Cochlear Implant, under the supervision of Prof. Mark Lutman.

Dr Buhagiar studied at St Joseph School, Blata-l-Bajda, and St Aloysius College, Birkirkara. She graduated BSc (Hons) in Communication Therapy from the University of Malta in 1999. She left for the UK in September 2000 to further her studies and was awarded her MSc in Audiology from the University of Southampton in 2002.

She is currently working as an associate director and clinical scientist (audiology) at the University of Southampton Auditory Implant Service.
