Anthony Mifsud is under the mistaken impression (June 19) that former employees of the British military services are the only pensioners who have had their service/second pillar pension (paid out from another EU country) deducted from their Malta Social Security “two-thirds” first pillar pension.

There are many other individuals in receipt of a service/second pillar pension from another EU country, who have never been with the British military services, and have suffered the same injustice.

Furthermore, there are also individuals in receipt of a local private company service pension, and others in receipt of a private/third pillar pension they had paid for, who are in the same unfortunate boat.

Mifsud seems also unaware that it is members of our association that have taken this deplorable injustice to the European Parliament and that it is our association’s council that has pursued the matter right up to the European Court of Justice.

No other Maltese pensioners’ organisation, or workers’ union, has been prepared to do anything about Mifsud’s plight and he’s again mistaken if he believes the matter has been left on our association’s “back-burner”.
