An activity-packed weekend awaited Doncaster Rovers FC academy officials Ben Mawson, youth development director, and Colin Walker, technical director, at the Pembroke Athleta FC football nursery earlier this month.

Besides making a presentation on the Doncaster academy set-up and philosophy, the two UK coaches conducted practical instructional meetings for the Pembroke nursery coaches with the participation of U-11 and U-13 players.

The Doncaster coaches’ visit is part of an on-going arrangement between the two club academies for the benefit of youth coaches and the young players at Pembroke.

It is planned that other coaches from the English club will visit Malta in the latter part of the season while groups from the Pembroke nursery will be travelling to the UK to hold summer training camps in Doncaster. The visit of Mawson and Walker was also made possible thanks to the assistance of the Radisson Blu Resort Hotel.
