Milan striker Pato will travel to the United States to consult a specialist in a bid to end a string of muscle injuries, the Serie A club said yesterday.

The 22-year-old Brazilian has suffered 13 injuries in the past two years and his latest niggle, a tear in the thigh muscle, has restricted him to just 11 league games this season, in which he has scored once.

Pato has already consulted one US-based specialist and is now scheduled to see another, Dr Frederick Carrick, when he flies to Atlanta on Monday.

Meanwhile, veteran forward Filippo Inzaghi will be out for two to three weeks with a hamstring strain.

The 38-year-old has been a bit-part player this season, making just eight appearances in all competitions.

It means only Argentine Maxi Lopez and youngster Stephan El Shaarawy are definitely fit for this weekend’s game against Roma, although Ibrahimovic is expected to overcome a back problem.
