It never ceases to amaze me how so many contributors to the press not only politicise everything but, more significantly, how many of them still find it in them to rationalise the terrible years under the Mintoffian yolk. I remember them well, as do so many emigrants like myself.

What is even sadder is that so many of them patently plan to vote for the same party come the next election.

I have no idea what the current crop of Labour politicians stand for but the leopard is not known for changing its spots or, to put it in the Maltese vernacular, cutting off a porker’s tail does not change the porcine characterics, which make it what it is.

Be careful, I say to these zealots: be very careful.

Malta has improved over the years, thanks in no small measure to its joining the European Union, and it would be terrible in the extreme if any ascension to power by the Labour Party were to undo it all.

Vote Labour by all means but please ensure you know who you are voting for and what their worth is. I am very much aware of several worthy candidates on the PL side and one can only hope that they come to the fore if the unthinkable were to happen.
